FlyArystan Launches Xi’an Route: Direct Connection Between Almaty and One of China’s Key Cities

Press releases
Kazakhstan’s low-cost carrier FlyArystan announces the launch of a new international route connecting Almaty and Xi’an. The new service expands the airline’s presence in China and creates additional travel opportunities between Kazakhstan and one of Asia’s oldest cultural centers.

The inaugural flight on the new route is scheduled for 30 June 2026. Flights will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Departure from Almaty is scheduled for 21:25, with arrival in Xi’an at 04:50 local time the following day. The return flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, arriving in Almaty at 08:20.

Johan Eidhagen, President and CEO of FlyArystan JSC:

“The launch of the Xi’an route represents both an expansion of FlyArystan’s route network and a strategic step toward strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and China. We are connecting Almaty with one of Asia’s oldest and most significant cities, opening new opportunities for travel, business, and cultural exchange. Almaty remains a key gateway for international mobility, and our mission is to make such routes accessible to an increasing number of people. We see growing interest in China and are consistently responding to this demand by expanding our flight geography and shaping a new travel culture – more frequent, simpler, and more affordable”.

Xi’an is one of China’s oldest cities and the former capital of several Chinese dynasties. The city is known as the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and today serves as a major cultural, educational, and industrial center of the country. Among its main attractions is the world-famous Terracotta Army, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

One-way fares on the Almaty – Xi’an route start from KZT 87,500* under the standard fare package. Tickets are already available for booking on the official website www.flyarystan.com, via the mobile app, and through other sales channels.

The development of FlyArystan’s international route network remains one of the airline’s key strategic priorities. In the first quarter of 2026, the Air Astana Group continued to actively expand its presence in China, more than doubling the total frequency of flights between Kazakhstan and China compared to the same period last year. The new route aligns with the Air Astana Group’s strategy to expand its international network and strengthen its presence in fast-growing Asian markets.
