Special Services by FlyArystan for Elderly Passengers

Travel blog
In honor of the International Day of Older Persons, FlyArystan emphasizes the importance of care and attention toward the elderly. The airline considers it a duty to provide high-quality service to senior passengers, both at the airport and onboard.

What can be done to ensure a comfortable journey for elderly passengers?

The journey begins at the airport, and for some elderly travelers, getting from the check-in counters to the aircraft may be challenging. In such cases, the passenger or the person booking the ticket can request a wheelchair service of the following types:

  • For passengers who can go up and down stairs, walk short distances, and seat themselves independently but are unable to walk long distances without a wheelchair;
  • For passengers who cannot use stairs (they must be carried) but can move independently to and from their seat onboard;
  • For passengers who are completely immobile and cannot move without a wheelchair to and from the aircraft (they must be carried up and down the stairs and to and from the aircraft seat).

It is important to note that, according to the Ground Handling Manual, the airline must be informed at least 24 hours prior to departure. To request wheelchair assistance, passengers can contact FlyArystan's call center, WhatsApp bot, Instagram, Facebook, or email at special.services@flyarystan.com. To ensure timely service, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport no later than one hour before departure.

When boarding begins, the airline gives priority to elderly passengers and individuals with special needs. To take advantage of this, passengers should be among the first in line at the gate no later than 40 minutes before departure. This way, senior passengers can board early, settle into their seats comfortably, and have access to available overhead bin space.

Furthermore, since July 19, 2023, the airline has been running a corporate social responsibility pilot project called “Komek.” Officially launched on February 1, 2024, the initiative aims to support socially vulnerable groups by offering discounts on commercial flights.

As part of the “Komek” program, FlyArystan offers a 50% discount on domestic flights within Kazakhstan for passengers with first-degree disabilities and one accompanying person. The benefit also includes 20 kg of free checked baggage for the passenger with a disability.

Additionally, under this initiative, World War II veterans, persons equated to WWII veterans, and their accompanying persons are eligible for a 100% discount on domestic flights.

These discounts apply to flights within Kazakhstan and are granted once per year per person.

FlyArystan is committed to making air travel as comfortable as possible for all passengers. By offering dedicated services and support, we reaffirm our commitment to the older generation, helping them enjoy their journeys and discover new horizons.

Happy International Day of Older Persons!
