As part of strengthening international cooperation, Kazakhstan's airline FlyArystan and the Arda Khiva tourist complex (Khorezm Region, Uzbekistan) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The agreement will serve as a foundation for jointly promoting the tourism potential of both countries ahead of the launch of the new direct route between Almaty and Urgench.
The memorandum was signed during a press conference in Khiva attended by representatives of the Khorezm regional administration, local tour operators and members of the media.

The parties have agreed to implement joint marketing initiatives that will help raise the profile of the Khorezm region and Almaty amongst travellers. As part of this collaboration, the ‘Arda Khiva’ tourist complex has also prepared special holiday packages, designed to coincide with the timetable of FlyArystan’s new flights on the Almaty – Urgench – Almaty route. These packages include accommodation, transfers and a sightseeing programme, enabling travellers to plan their trip with ease.
‘Arda Khiva’ is a modern tourist complex that opened in 2025 in the city of Khiva. Combining accommodation, dining, crafts and leisure facilities, the complex has become a new attraction for tourists. Collaboration with this large-scale venue will enable FlyArystan to effectively promote the region to Kazakhstani travellers and raise awareness of the new route.
During the event, representatives from FlyArystan spoke about the airline’s services and gave their Uzbek colleagues a preview of a new travel vlog about Urgench and ancient Khiva, clearly demonstrating the possibilities for budget travel.
Janar Jailauova, Director Marketing and Communications at FlyArystan:
“Today, the role of an airline extends far beyond simply operating flights. We strive to forge partnerships that help unlock the tourism potential of destinations. The signing of a memorandum of understanding with the ‘Arda Khiva’ tourist complex will enable us to join forces in promoting the Khorezm region and Almaty. The launch of direct flights between Almaty and Urgench in September coincides with one of the most favourable seasons for travel in the region, when visitors can expect pleasant weather and a rich cultural programme, which I am confident will contribute to the growth of mutual tourist traffic on the new route.”
Svetlana Shustova, General Manager of the ‘Arda Khiva’ tourist complex:
“We are delighted to be collaborating with FlyArystan, which opens up new opportunities for tourists from Kazakhstan. In autumn 2026, a packed cultural programme is planned at ‘Arda Khiva’ and at Khiva’s historic sites, featuring gastronomic, craft and ethnic events. A key advantage is the well-planned programme of events and the ready-made tour packages for 3–4 days, created in collaboration with local tour operators, designed for both individual tourists and business travellers, which include accommodation, airport transfers, excursions and tickets to events. These are specifically timed to coincide with arrival (Thursday) and departure (Sunday) dates, so that travellers do not need to plan anything themselves and can make the most of their experience. In addition, we have put together separate packages for business groups and event organisers — with arrival on Sunday and departure on Thursday — allowing them to effectively combine their work programme with exploring Khiva over the course of the week.”
